– Vivat Musicus Poeticus
In the jubilee year of the Musicus Poeticus Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672), the Choral Festival will take place from the 16th to the 19th of June 2022.
Artist in Residence with concert and workshops will be
the RIAS-Kammerchor Berlin
Funded by: the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
Organizer: Evangelische Wittenbergstiftung, Lutherstadt Wittenberg.
Project partners: Kulturbüro der EKD, Luthergedenkstätten Sachsen-Anhalt.

PARTICIPATION free, registration deposit per chamber choir/ensemble 500 Euro (offsetting with accommodation)
Obligatory preparation for the workshops to be performed during the festival
Heinrich Schütz: Herr, auf dich traue ich – Psalm 31 (SWV 377, Carus Verlag CV 20.377/00)
Frank Schwemmer: Psalm 31 (Berliner Chormusik-Verlag BCV 19.04.03)
Leonhard Lechner: Mein süße Freud auf Erden (weltlich/geistlich, Carus Verlag CV 4.022/40)
All participants will receive individual certificates of participation in the workshops with the RIAS-Kammerchor Berlin.
The workshops are recognized as continuing education for choral conductors and music teachers.

All workshops will take place in various halls of Lutherstadt, the concerts in the Stadtkirche St. Marien and in the Schlosskirche.

08:30 drive to the surrounding countryside for musical services
10:00-11:30 musical services in surrounding churches and churches of the city
(repertoire: compulsory pieces Schütz / Schwemmer / Lechner and an additional choir-selected piece)
13:00-14:00 dress rehearsal final concert in the Schlosskirche
15:00-16:00 final concert in the Schlosskirche
FIDES CANTAT 2024
In 2024, the theme of the Fides Cantat festival will be the first evangelical hymnal and its composers with a focus on Johann Walter (1496-1570).
